BOWERS, William J. (Member Royal Canadian Legion Br. 72, Pembroke, Life Member Knights of Columbus Council 1531, 4th Degree, Bishop Smith Assembly). Peacefully at the Pembroke General Hospital on Friday, July 30, 2004 in his 85th year. William (Bill) Bowers of Pembroke. Beloved husband of Rita Walsh Bowers (nee Carmody) and by first marriage the late Dorothy Bowers (nee Mulligan). Brother of Mary Derion (Steve), Pembroke and, Luke Bowers of Renfrew. Son of the late Anthony and Margaret (nee Doyle) Bowers. Predeceased by his brothers Levi, Michael, Patrick and Nelson Bowers and his sister Katie Bowers. Bill is survived and will be dearly missed by his nephew Jim Bowers (Aliane), step-children Steve, Liam, Brendan and Nancy Walsh and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, on Tuesday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning August 4 at 11 o'clock in St. Columbkille's Cathedral, Pembroke. Interment St. Columba's Cemetery. Members of the R.C.L. Br. 72 will meet at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus Council 1531 and Bishop Smith Assembly will meet at the Funeral Home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. In memory of Bill donations to The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
