Vernon "Butch" Miller

Passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at Hospice Care Ottawa, May Court Site in Ottawa, with family by his side, at the age of 88. Predeceased by his beloved wife Valerie Louise (née Jones), his parents Marion (née Cameron) and Ralph Miller, and his brothers James and Robert. He is lovingly remembered as the devoted father of Cameron Miller (Kate) and Kylee Loyens (Rolf); cherished grandfather of Skyler, Callan, Lorne, and Tys; and proud great-grandfather to Karson and Liam. Born in Montreal and raised in Sorel, he lived with humility, generosity, and quiet strength. A proud member of the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Armed Forces, he built an exceptional flying career, qualifying on more than 50 aircraft and serving in key leadership roles, including Commanding Officer of 444 Squadron and AETE. After retiring from the military, he continued his work as a senior project manager on major national programs. He will be deeply missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, his brother-in-law Norm Jones (Irene), lifelong friends, and best friend of 66 years, Allan McIntosh.
