Wanda Wooden

Wanda Wooden, 97, died July 13, 2026, just one day short of her 98th birthday. She was born July 14, 1928, in Lafayette, Tennessee, and was a resident of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Wanda will be remembered for a steady, kind-hearted presence that showed itself in the way she cared for others and carried herself with quiet grace. Over the years, Wanda built a life marked by responsibility and dedication in her work as a credit manager at Sears. She approached her days with a thoughtful steadiness, offering warmth and consideration in the many ordinary moments that, over a lifetime, become a legacy. Wanda also gave her time and leadership to her community, serving as President of the American Legion Auxiliary-an expression of her commitment to service and the people around her. She was a volunteer 4H leader and a member of the local Homemakers club. At home, Wanda's care was felt in the comforts she created. She was an excellent cook, and she took genuine delight in style, known as a true fashionista with an eye for what was polished and put-together. Wanda was preceded in death by her late husband, Jack Wooden; her parents, Sylvester & Beatrice Wooten; her daughters, Jackie & Carol; two brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren, Carrie & EJ. She is survived by her son, Steve; her daughter-in-law, Rita; her granddaughters, Renee Collins and Lisa Bouge; and seven great-grandchildren.
