Harriet Edith LEIGH-MALLORY

M.Ed (nee Leigh-Mallory) At the Hospice at May Court on Sunday, August 5, 2001, after a long battle against both Alzheimer Disease and Cancer at age 80. Survived by Vernon, her husband of 57 years; son, David (Gloria then Leslie) of Toronto; daughters, Wendy (Bob then Wes) of Edmonton, June (Garry) of Kingston, Patsy (Dan) of Devon, England and 14 grandchildren. Harriet served as a Trustee for 9 years on the Ottawa Board of Education with special concern for inner city schools, special education and alternative schools. She was also active in the Head Start Nursery School Programs. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday August 9 and Friday, August 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Private family service. Interment Beechwood Cemetery. Planned for early September is a more public Memorial and Celebration of Life Service (date and location to be announced). Ottawa Citizen, August 7, 2001
