Melvin H. Douthwright 1918 - 2002 Melvin Douthwright of Leonard Street, Riverview, passed away at the Dr. George L. Dumont Hospital on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 following a brief illness. Born on January 22, 1918, in Albert Mines, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mina (Wood) Douthwright. Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a Machinist with the CNR with over 30 years of dedicated service. Melvin was a member of the Gunningsville United Baptist Church, the I.A.M. Machinist Union, and the NB Forester's Association. An avid hunter, fisherman and bowler, Mel also enjoyed traveling, camping and was active in many types of sports. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beth (Steeves); sons, Eric (Lynn) of Riverview, Steve (Joan) of Collier Mountain; daughters, Joyce Slipp (Richard) of Fredericton, Fern Mitchell (George) of Riverview; brother, Austin (Joan) of Albert Mines; sisters, Ida Wilbur of Toronto, Cora Naughler of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Trevor, Todd, Scott, Misty, Ryan, Carrie, Shanda, Tyler; great grandchildren, Jordan, Finn, Morgyn, Molly, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Vera and Dora; brothers, Cecil and Charlie. By request, there will be no visitation prior to the memorial service to be held on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 3 PM in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the Family Reception Room of the Funeral Home. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Gunningsville United Baptist Church, Dr. G.L.
