Cyril Methodius Vincent Bulanda Suddenly on Sunday, September 15, 2002, God called Cyril to Heaven, from his home in St. Catharines, at the age of 67, with his loving wife and son by his side. Predeceased by his parents Stanley and Sabina Piatkowski Bulanda, brother Raymond, his in-laws Martin and Katherine Konopka, brother-in-law Zenon Konopka and niece Basia Wojtas. Cyril left behind his loving wife of 34 years, Valerie Ann Bulanda (nee Konopka) and his devoted children, his daughter Dr. Catherine Sabina Bulanda of Calgary and son Cyril Michael Jerome Bulanda. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Estelle and Michael Martin, Mary Jawor, Helen Rydzewski, Josephine and John Morrison, Stan and Mary Lou Bulanda, Walter and Marge Piatkowski, Joe and Carmelita Bulanda, Eddie and Sheila Bulanda, Veronica and Chet Szalecki, John Bulanda, Rita and Chet Ross, Janet and Casey Van Zytveld and Anthony and Alice Bulanda; his in-laws, Elizabeth and Joseph Zabek, Yadwiga and Zygmunt Wojtas and Arlene Konopka, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cyril was a man for all seasons who enjoyed academic and athletic pursuits. He attended St. Jerome's College in Kitchener, St. Michael's College High School and St. Michael's College - University of Toronto. He received his first Masters Degree from Ottawa University and his second from Niagara University. Cyril loved the pursuit of knowledge and chose his career path in education. Initially, he taught high school in Midland, Ontario, and went on to his true calling as an educational counsellor. He shared his wisdom and guidance with the staff and students of Humber College in Toronto for 35 years. Cyril was proud to have served as an Artillery Officer in the Canadian Army Reserves and was a member of the Canadian Legion Branch 418. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and St. Julia's for many years and was always eager to lend his help in those in need. Cyril is resting at the PATRICK J. DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 39 Court Street (downtown), St. Catharines. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate Street, St. Catharines, on Thursday, September 19th at 10:30 a.m. The Rite of Committal, Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines to follow. Vigil prayers for the deceased will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday 7:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Valerie Konopka Bulanda Philosophy Scholarship at Brock University or to the Restoration Fund of the Grotto of the Blessed Mother of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Cyril, you were a true Christian and will live in our hearts forever.
