Philip Hewitt AMYS

AMYS, Philip Hewitt (RCAF and WWII Veteran) Peacefully in Ottawa, Monday, August 26, 2002. Philip Amys, age 86, was born in Peterborough on December 3, 1915. Philip was one of 4 sons of the late Dr. Charles Hewitt Amys and Mary Elizabeth Amys (nee Lipsett). Predeceased by brothers John (Jack), Roger and Hewitt. Survived by his sister Anne Thompson Walters (Toronto). Philip was predeceased 35 years ago by his beloved wife Marion (nee Harvey), also raised in Peterborough. Dear father of Philip (Necia, Halifax), Anne (Ottawa) and Heather (Scott White, Ottawa). Loving grandfather of Dawn Thompson. During the war, Philip taught radar in the USA and overseas. A long time manager with Bathurst Containers, he lived most of his adult life in Montreal. Philip lived with dignity and enthusiasm despite the severe impact of a cerebral aneurysm 22 years ago. He was loved by many staff, friends, and volunteers at the Perley Rideau Veteran’s Centre in Ottawa and the Veteran’s Centre in Ste Anne de Bellevue, QC. Funeral took place on August 29, 2002 in Ottawa. Interment Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Pointe Claire, QC.
